The individual world conjured up in Boswell’s street scenes found its most popular expression in the fine posters the artist designed for Ealing Studios in the later 1940s. These reached their height in the poster for the film “It Always Rains on Sunday”, amongst the finest film posters ever produced by Ealing Studios. A classic Camden Town painting by Boswell provides the poster’s backdrop, although the film was set in the East End. An original version of the girls appeared in Lilliput in 1947 and is now in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
